Love it.  Glad you had more story than sex scenes

Reviewer: nickknack (Signed) · Date: February 01, 2020 08:08 PM · On: A New Place

Adore this story. Even though it wasn't ever finished, we are at least in no doubt that Brian and Justin are, and will forever be, together no matter the distance or circumstances. A definite add to favorites.

I wish the story would continue. It seems not complete, but the last sentence of the chapter suggests that Brian and Justin will stay together. I loved reading this story, I really liked it.

I'm reading the whole story in one fell swoop (as we Brits say), so I didn't think I would comment 'till the end, but it is so wonderful, so well written and so much what I want to read that I had to write to you. I am assuming that it ends happily with Justin and Brian back together.

Lots of love from Jacky M

"It Was Only Time" is absolutely fantastic! Do you still plan to update/complete the story? I really, really hope so. I've waited till the last (posted) chapter to review because I just discovered your stories yesterday, and because I noticed it has been some time since this story was updated. I've been immersed in the story all day and regret that I must now come up for breath.

I like the point of divergence that you chose for this story while remaining, I think, true to the QAF canon. I also like the buildup you created before reuniting Brian and Justin...with both of them truly ready for a relationship. Having them meet again at Leo Brown's house provided an interesting twist.

I realy do love this story and I wish you would carry on with it. It's just got that BJ feel about it, the intimate loving sexy feel that our loved men have in the best parts of the sieries. Please forgive spelling, I'm dilexic and although I sense *sieries* isn't correct I can't emagine a more acurate way of putting it.

Lots of love and hope for more af this great fic, from Jacky M

I absolutely love this fic... it makes me very happy and it's believable. I spend most of my time reading BJ stories now as I'm at the end of my life but because of the fics I stay happy, in fact a lot happier than some of my healthy time.

You write a wonderful, romantic, believable,  story, in fact I can live in them so keep going writing them. I've read some of your fics before and when I got a new computer (due to total infestation by foriegn lurgies in my beloved old one) I couldn't find most of my old sites, so I am particularly delighted to find your stories again.

Lots of love from 6frog

I haven't commented as I've read the entire story in the last two days, but oh you so need to finish this story and soon.  I lvoe Gus' idea of Brian selling himself.  The angst was at a good level and the reunions were great.  Would love to see May (Brown) back in the story and some thanks for her role in their reunion.  Thank you for a lovely story- original and I can't wait to see the ending.

Do Andrew and Daphne get together?  Looks like Justin and Jacob will be a couple soon.  Sigh.  I still want Brian and Justin to be together since it's only time.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 23, 2013 01:20 AM · On: Visions

Talk about spooky.  While it was nice that Ted didn't want Brian to go through things alone, I thought it rather pushy of Michael to just use his keys to barge into the loft with the whole family.  Nice touch though.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 23, 2013 12:08 AM · On: Holiday Blues

I take it Jennifer doesn't plan on telling Justin about the house Brian bought.  You can tell that not being in the Pitts for Thanksgiving and Christmas is the right decision for Justin right now, but my heart can't help from breaking over what the future might hold for both Brian and Justin.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 11:59 PM · On: A Country Manor

It's obvious that he had Justin in mind when he purchased the house.  Hopefully he'll find happiness there.

As happy as I am for Justin, I'm also sad.  Your story has a way of getting the feeling across and giving one no choice but continue to read.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 11:09 PM · On: 3 AM and Meanwhile in L.A.

Very very angsty.  But in keeping with the show.  It was  very nice to hear that Brian wanted to drop everything and head back to New York.  Sometimes I wonder whose side Lindsey is on.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 11:03 PM · On: Ghosts, Devils and Angels

The title of this chapter is so appropriate.  I just hope that Justin doesn't put Brian completely behind him and that Brian finds some way to worm himself into Justin's life.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 10:47 PM · On: Surprise and an Unexpected Visitor

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 10:17 PM · On: A Most Important Conversation

It's nice that things are going good, but sad that he's letting Brian go.  Am I right in assuming that Jacob will play a major role in Justin's life?

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 10:08 PM · On: Summer, the Gallery & Arthur Loring

It's nice to see that Justin's career is going so well.  But what is this conversation!!!!  The suspense is killing me.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 10:00 PM · On: Pittsburgh & Babylon

Brian seems to have a little set back in this chapter.  It's amazing how everyone perceives him differently.  Who has the best vision?  Oh dear, do we have a new "Justin" on the scene?

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 09:51 PM · On: Changes

Brian isn't that easy to forget.  What has Brian been up to during all this?

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 09:33 PM · On: New York

Oh no!  They're getting their wires crossed again.  Britin!  How ironic and sweet at the same time.  Was Brian really in Chicago?  This story has me on pins and needles, it's not a everything will work out just fine story.  I can see bumps on the way which makes it really interesting.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: October 22, 2013 09:23 PM · On: Upheaval

This is a more realistic outcome.  I'm seeing a Lyndsay as I don't quite remember.  The one that still believes in Brian and Justin but wants only the best for Justin.  I love the last line.  It's perfect.

I finally caught up and I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying this story.  I think this long distance relationship will work as the attraction they both have is enormous, but this time, they seem to have become best friends.  That should help a lot.

I found the chapter ending kind of strange.  If Brian left for Pittsburgh, and Justin was with him, then why did Brian go to New York – or is Justin moving to Britin and the long distance experiment is over?  It is not clear to me or did I miss something.  I guess I will find out in the next chapter.

Again, thanks for this story.   I really enjoy reading it.

I loved that reunion. Too often they meet and practically screw each other on contact. Justin had some restraint here.

Reviewer: no sleep (Signed) · Date: October 15, 2013 03:00 PM · On: Are You In Love With Me?

I love that you had Justin experience an adult relationship with an equal. Jacob was much better suited for him. I also thought that it should have helped him get past his feeling for his dysfunctional relationship with Brian.

"We haven't even been together for six months..."

I got confused on the timeline. You mentioned earlier in the chapter that they had been together one and one half years.

I liked Nate. He said Justin was too young for him. How old was he supposed to be?

I'm in-between trying to drag my kid to bed and trying to get some rest to recover from his holiday from school, but I couldn't pass up the update to this story. It had been so long since I had read this that I had to start from the beginning. Reading this now, I have to wonder. Justin left Brian because they wanted different things out of a relationship or life. It seemed as if Brian had washed his hands of Justin. I would like to believe that Brian would have still watched over Justin.

Lindsay and Brian deciding not to tell Justin about Brian's decision to ask Justin to marry him was so unfair to Justin. They should have respected him as an adult to make the decision for himself.

Reviewer: JAZZEPOET (Signed) · Date: October 15, 2013 07:35 AM · On: Long Distance

What a rollercoaster ride!!! I love that our boys have finally gotten their shit together and have decided not to let anyone interfere with their relationship.

Although maintaining a long distance relationship is not going to be easy, I'm sure Brian and Justin will find a way to make it work ;)

Please update soon~JP

Okay....I've just discovered this story and am making my way through the chapters so I know that there is more to follow, but up to this point I would have to say that the angst meter is extremely high here. I know tings will take a turn down the road but with every chapter I've read my heart was breaking more and more.

Damn that Lindsay...it seems like every time Brian is ready to face his feelings for Justin, she has to say or do something to make him change his mind.

now I'm off to finish the rest of the chapters ;)

Ok in this, poor Linds seems to be smack dab in the middle and I feel sorry for her!  I understand the reasoning but that isn't giving me much comfort right now!  Nor is the idea of fate!  But I will wait it out.  Totally Brian the way he admitted to Jennifer that he did love Justin!

In the show (especially the last season) everyone was a bit manic, for lack of a better term and Lindsey's true motivations were never really clear to me. In my story, I wanted for her intentions to be good ones and her desire to help Justin a genuine one.

Definitely angsty! It only works if there is a purpose down the road for it. There have better be big balloons, parades, and clowns down the road, LOL.

Brian thought, HE was the ghost, the angel and the devil and he was being systematically exorcised through artwork...

Exactly what he wanted. The big lug.

Sorry, I get so involved sometimes, LOL.

Reviewer: no sleep (Anonymous) · Date: June 26, 2012 12:47 PM · On: Toronto

Lindsay told him that they were very close, since Justin visited Gus at least once a week for the past four years until his move to New York...

Brian was astonished. He knew that Justin occasionally babysat for Mel and Lindsay when needed, but he apparently didn't pay enough attention at the time to know that Justin was such a big part of Gus's life and a better father-figure to Gus than he ever was.

That was a killer. Brian did admit he would like to be a fathe full time though.

First off.You mention the VERY talented Paul Newman.A man I have been in love with since I was 15.(am 55 now)lol.Any way this chapter was great and hey! A wee bit of sugar's good for us.I like the lighthearted banter after all the angst. So keep up the good work and get the story finished lol.PLEASE not a lot of sad stuff. My wee heart couldn't take it.Thank you.

Author's Response:

Well, who doesn't love Paul Newman?  It was a very sad day indeed when he passed. The man was amazing in many ways and as far as his good looks go, he was a man for (almost) every woman of every generation. I'm 33 and I LOVE him, my mother who's a couple of years older than you loves him and a very good friend of the family, who is well into her 80's, loves him. I couldn't NOT mention him when writing that scene. I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

As for the end of the story...I have a promise and a confession to make. First the confession, I re-written the last chapter and the epilogue a couple off times because I tried to have a bit of angst thrown in leading up to a happy end. My thinking - long distance relationship, there's gotta be some angst. Right? Well, none of it worked very well or at all and I had to put this story aside for a few weeks because it was kind of driving me crazy. Then I had ideas for other stories, started writing those, then RL happened and I haven't had a lot of time to spend on this story exclusively. I've been chipping away at the last chapter off and on for months, but I haven't quite finished. There, end of confession.

On to the promise - I WILL get it finished. I don't want to promise when that'll be because I've done that before, didn't deliver and disappointed myself and my readers. :(

So, all I'll say is that it'll get done because I do not want to abandon it.

Thank you so much for reading and for commenting, Charlotte. It truly means a lot to me!

Cheers,

Vin

This was one of the first fics I read when I first discovered this site about 9 mo. ago. I stumbled on it again today & started rereading. I'd forgotten how great it was. But so damn sad. I literally have tears in my eyes right now after the part about Brian listening to Justin's message saying he'd 'sold' Brian @ the show. Very very sad. TAG

PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE FINISH!!!!

Author's Response:

I am so sorry for the extreme delay, Linda! I promise I am working on a post. I just really, really, really don't want to post something that I hate and for some reason after the extremely surprising success of Persistense of Memory, everything I've written for this story seems like absolute crap. I've scrapped and re-written the next chapter so many times now, I've lost count. I've decided to just put it aside for a bit. It's probably not as bad as I think it is, but everytime I go back to it, it just seems all wrong.

Not to worry, though, I WILL FINISH THIS STORY! I promise!

This is a lesson to me - don't start a new story before finishing the first one! LOL. As much as I'd like to be like Predec2 and have several stories in rotation, I just CAN'T pull it off. I have a couple other stories brewing in my crazy brain, but I will definitely finish this one first before posting anything new. That's for sure.

Thank you, Linda, for your infinite patience!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Cheers

"The problem is, the only thing he can talk seriously in depth about are his comics. As much as she loves him, Deb would get irritated, hit him upside the head inside of fifteen minutes and probably flush the pot down the toilet."

Hilarious!

"Why did you chose me that night, Brian? I've always wondered. You could have taken anyone home that night, why me?"

I loved that conversation. This is my favorite story of yours. Please update soon!

Author's Response:

Thank you again, nosleep! I am thrilled you liked this chapter and those conversations specifically, for I worked rather hard on them.

As for an update... I'm still working on the next chapter - a couple of other stories sort of took over my life and mind for a bit, but I am pretty sure I am back in IWOT land. I'll do my very best to post soon.

"The only topics they avoided for the time being by an unspoken agreement were their respective relationships with Jacob Frost and Nathan Turner."

It was about time the two of them got to know each other outside of sex. It is something that is rarely explored in fandom. I was hoping Brian would discuss Nathan more, though.

Author's Response:

Thank you, nosleep, for yet another insightful comment. I am of exactly the same opinion - they didn't show enough of B & J's relationship outside of sex. There's was some, but not nearly enough. I was trying to add a little bit of that in my story and glad some of the coversations turned out well.

I see that I forgot to comment on Lake Forest. I was born and raised in Chicago but Ihave only been to Lake Forest once to attend a party. It was at night so I did not see much but you have piqued my interest. I could tell by the way you wrote about the city that you had a love for the Chicago area. I love to see stories written about Chicago. I so miss seeing certain aspects of it.

Please don't hesitate to write a story with Chicago as a backdrop. I would promise to review each chapter! LOL

Author's Response:

Let me tell you a story, nosleep, about why I love Chicago so very much....

My husband was stationed at the naval base there (the Great Lakes). On our first trip to Chicago we went in mid-March when it was still bloody cold out with snow and ice still on the ground. We took the train to the base and he showed me around a little, but unfornutatelly we couldn't go into very much of it because of security. I just remember a heck of a lot of kids in uniform who looked too young to be in high school, let alone in the Navy. Anyway, after walking around the base we decided to walk - yes, WALK - from the base to the nearest town along the walking/running/biking path that's parallel to the train tracks. We froze our asses off, our feet hurt like you wouldn't believe, but we made it to the town of Lake Bluff and then Lake Forest ON FOOT and had the most amazing time together. That day trip literally took an entire day; we ended up exloring the two suburbs a little and took the train back to Chicago from Lake Forest. The rest of the trip we spent walking around the city - again freezing our butts off, wearing out our feet and drinking Orange Dulce tea at night sitting in front of the bay window of our hotel room, which overlooked Lake Michigan....Yeah, I basically fell in love with Chicago and it's suburbs from that point on. A couple of years later, in July of 2007, we went back to Chicago and my husband (he wasn't one at the time) proposed to me while we were taking a nighttime sailboat ride in the harbor - the stars were out, the skyline was gloriously lit up and somebody set off fireworks over the water in preparation for the 4th of July holiday...he got down on one knee, got out the ring and proposed. Perfection doesn't even begin to describe it.

So, yeah, I just HAD to include a little snippet of one of my favorite slices of the world.

I am so glad you enjoyed it.

Cheers,

Vin

I'm from the school of "less is more". You did a great job with it. I am curious as to why Brian waited 4 years and if he had not met Justin at Brown's, would he have persued him?

"This may sound harsh, but I am not willing to spend several years, if not the rest of my life, playing the part of Justin Taylor to your Brian Kinney..."

I loved the cards on the table discussion. It was so true and honest. Jacob was a good guy.

Here's my reason for introducing Jacob Frost into the mix.

I'm one of those people who read the A/Ns. I was delighted the see your explanation for Jacob and I could not agree more. You explained some of it with Daphne saying that Justin had no experience when it came to relationships. Brian and Justin were not equals and that played a role in a lot of the heartache Justin experienced. I can see what you are trying to say in this story. It's obvious that you put a great deal of thought into it.

There is a method to your madness. LOL

Author's Response:

Thank you so very much! I was worried that my introducing a serious boyfriend into Justin's life would be an unpopular move, but readers seemed to really like him and agreed with why I included him.

It's very gratifying to me that an original character of mine worked so well.

Thank you!

“Sometimes I wish I never met him, but five minutes later I thank God that I did. Because I would be different and so would my life, if I've never met Brian Kinney. I shouldn't have come to Pittsburgh, it was way too soon."

Brain and Justin are both going through a  great deal of pain. Justin is obviously not over Brian but he needed to face his demons.

"Why didn't I realize this before? You bought the house for him, didn't you?”

This was definitely angsty enough. The dark and brooding, self sacrificing Brian was beginning to be a bit much here. It seems that Brian is fighting what he really wants with what he feels he give in the relationship. He needs to grow up as much as Justin and the time apart could be the best thing for both of them.

On another note, I was so stressed reading up to this chapter, I got a headache from it.  Maybe a little too ansgty! LOL

Excellent story, though. I thought "Persistnace of Memory" was good but this is more subtle and hits you when you aren't looking.

Author's Response:

Oh, no! I didn't mean to stress you out! I am sorry....but thank you anyway. :)

I completely agree that the angst here was rather heavy-handed. Oh well, live and learn...and I have a LOT to learn about writing, so comments such as yours are invaluable to me.

Hmm. I see potential here.

"He's one of those triple threats – beauty, brains and talent. Sadly, he had no interest in me personally whatsoever. He was too young for me anyway.”

Somehow I don't think Brian needed to hear that. He always thought the same as far as the age difference.

"He’s fond of comic books, however, so I know he’d like to talk to you about Rage.”

Hmm. This has potential.

“'Fuck the club! I’m going home to paint.' And gave him the address."

All work and no play... It seems Justin has lost interest in anything but work, now that Brian is out of the picture.

Author's Response:

Interesting take and I will agree with to you a point. My idea when writing the "fuck the club...etc" line was that Justin is just inspired; inspired by his opportunities and by the museum and in his mind at that moment is use that inspiration rather than waste it on booze and men. But...I must say that at that point Justin is doing nothing, but working, so I can't argue with you there.

Thank you for your always insightful comments!

Keep them coming, they are great.

"He decided to give himself time – time to get over Brian, time to be single, time to grow up, time to focus on his art and time to meet and get to know someone who wanted exactly the same things in a relationship."

I was going through my Kindle and found this story. I download a lot of fics to read later and occasionally forget I have them. I was pleasantly surprised at your characterizations of Brian and Justin. I loved the part where Justin thinks about his past with Brian and how he needs to change and go on. I can't see anything wrong with that. He had came to that conclusion when he left Brian the last time.

I hate that Brian through him off the proverbial cliff again.  Brian needs to treat Justin as an adult and grow up a little himself (those two just get me so rilled up). LOL

sweet, like how it was justin being cautious this time. Brian though was quiet and waited kinda patiently. I like that Brian used those 4 years to learn about himself and develop some positive anger/stress management techniques.

now on to the family dinner, where's emmet

Author's Response:

Thank you! As for Emmett... I absolutely adored his character in the show, but for some reason he's very difficult for me to write, so he isn't featuring very much (hardly at all) in my story, just because I didn't want to "ruin" him. I'll make sure he's in the epilogue though, just so he's not forgotten.
