Midnight Whispers
QAF Brian and Justin Fanfiction
Reviewer: nickknack (Signed) · Date: May 30, 2016 11:50 AM · On: Rapture and Rainbows

A really good read -plenty of angst with the all important happy ending. I really liked that Brian was so in touch with his emotions and recognition of his love for Justin. His openness was a nice change from his usual portrayal.

An interesting deviation from canon bringing with it new challenges for our boys. I especially enjoyed the supportive and accepting role Jennifer had of a more open Brian. I liked the glimpse of the long term relationship that Brian and Justin developed:-)

Author's Response:

wow - my first story - seems like so very long ago - love that now and then someone still reads it for the first time - and thrilled beyond words that it is still be enjoyed

thank you so much - for reading - and for letting me know

how cool!

I was bored and stuck writing my currnet story so I was browsing thru old fics again and decided to re-read this. Just thought you should know I enjoyed it just as much on the second reading! You should write more long ones like this! TAG

Author's Response:

wow - that's awesome  - thanks for taking the time to let me know - I really appreciate your encouragement - I have several storylines running around in my head - but will not post until I have enough written to avoid long breaks in between chapters due to my busy life and overful calendar - lol

Yay! All better now. Really needed that happy ending though. Great story - sorry I wasn't around for encouragement when you were first writing it. Great first fic tho! TAG

Author's Response:

thanks TAG - I have truly enjoyed your posts...and am thrilled that you liked the story - thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to let me know - its just as encouraging if not more so to know that the story is still being read and enjoyed

hope the final goes well

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel sooo much better now! (reader collapses on bed from emotional overload and failure to follow your advice re the breathing thing). TAG

Author's Response:

:) - you're welcome...and I am so glad that we averted a catastrophe - sounds like the boys came to their senses just in the nick of time - lol

Okay, now I'm angry at you for being mean to Justin, too! Plus, I'm mad at myself because I'm supposed to be studying for a final but I can't seem to stop reading this angst, romantic, addictive story. You are just so mean! (still delusional reader, pacing up & down, ranting at the unfairness of the universe for creating star-crossed lovers and inconveniently scheduled exam). TAG

Author's Response:

ha ha ha - go study...I promise the stories aren't going anywhere...besides...delayed gratification always yields the most satisfying rewards...don't you think?

hope you ace the final!

Charle

Reviewer: Tagsit (Anonymous) · Date: June 14, 2012 09:28 AM · On: Burning Your Bridges

I feel so angry at you right now - how could you do this to poor Brian. You're so mean. Making Justin hurt him like this. (Reader is delusional from the angst and can no longer separate reality from fiction). TAG

Author's Response:

deep breath - breathe - breathe...it's gonna be ok - you  know these two will always...always have a happy ending ...can't imagine anything less

ha ha - thanks for responding - hope you like ho it all turns out!

Loved it!!
Your storyline was brilliant eventhough the characters were slightly out of character the storyline was so interesting that made you come back for more :) . I don't want to go out of line or anything but in my opinion the one thing that could've made this story just simply perfect would've been, if Chris had made an actual attempt at hurting Brian, even if it weren't something realy shocking but that wouldv'e made it more of a threat than just something that Justin assumed as a threat.
Anyways it was lovely and clever piece of reading and I'm going to read more of your work! :P

Author's Response:

Wow - thank you so very much, Sydney! I am thrilled that you liked this story. I really appreciate that you took the time to read and respond, especially since this story is a few months old. How fun to know that people might still be reading it!

Yeah - I know that there is OOC behavior here, but the plot bunny that brought this story to paper required it, and I value your input about how the story could have been made better. This was my very first story, and i have only written two more, with several more started waiting for inspiration to hit. So, I welcome comments that help me to put out better stories. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about my other two  posted stories.

The reconciliation scene was nice and hot.  Glad to see Brian's torture end.

Author's Response:

Thanks Jackie - I am so glad that you enjoy the heat between our boys as much as I do, and you certainly seem to love Brian as much as me, too. My intent all along was to bring them out of this stronger and closer than ever. so I too am glad that the ordeal is over for them.

It's hard to see Brian tormented for so long.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, I love that folks are still reading this story. I know we hate to see Brian hurt, but knowing that Justin did what he did our of love hopefully makes up a little for how misguided he was. Thanks for the read and the review, it means a lot.

I just read your story from start to finish and I thought it was wonderful!  I hope you continue to write QAF stories - you have a real talent!   Thanks!

Author's Response:

Thank you, Amy, for the wonderfully encouraging post! I appreciate you taking the time to read through the entire story, and to review as well. I am told that most writers do so for their enjoyment of the craft, and I certainly had a blast writing this. It is so much more rewrding, however, when someone else enjoys it as well. I have lots of plot bunnies running around in my head - all different - all exciting (to me at lease - lol). I am working on a one-shot right now, and then who knows - depends where my muse leads me.

Thanks again for your post.

"nothing could ever break them apart again." with the love they have for each other, that is certainly true.

I have to say that I was very disappointed when I read this chapter,1.Brian is not some pussy bottom that will beg Justin to "make love " to him 2. why Brian is the only one that bottomed in this story !!!

Author's Response:

Well hello Juli - and thanks for the review. I am so sorry that you didn't like this chapter, Sure hope you weren't disappointed with the entire story - but if you were, maybe whatever I am inspired to write next will be more to your liking.

In my opinion, Brian is never stronger than when he allows himself to be vulnerable, and this whole story started with the concept of the tables being turned for the boys. I did warn the readers up front about OOC content, and also made it quite clear that even within this story, this behavior was OOC for Brian. No matter what, though, I agree that Brian is no pussy, and sure am glad that what happens between he and Justin stays between them - Justin would never tell a soul what happened here!Pissburgh would never be the same! lol

Sorry you didn't get any Brian on Justin action in this chapter, it just didn't seem to fit except for Justin letting him know that he wanted some attention himself before the night was through. Perhaps it will fit in the epilogue - the boys ertainly never miss an opportunity, do they? We'll see how that goes.

Charle

justin will certainly have alot of explaining to do if brian decides to listen. i do have a feeling that brian may have most of it figured out before friday night. i hope he even goes to babylon then. michael may be a major road block if someone doesn't fill him in on what's going on.

em, got to love that fairy godmother.

Author's Response:

thanks sophie's mom, yeah Brian will get one last 'clue'that will bring it all together for him - and we know it will take more than this to keep our boys apart forever

thanks for staying with me - I rally appreciate it

Aw.....what a mess they've gotten themselves into!  I wish Daphne had just come out with it when she was with Brian and told him what was going on.....I'm glad Brian hasn't given up on his love for Justin, though.  Really enjoying your variation on this story!  Looking forward to seeing how it gets resolved.:)  Thanks for sharing this.

Author's Response:

Thank you Kimberly. Yeah, I guess Daphne could have come out with it, but the boys have a little more they need to do before the big reunion. Besides, I needed a little more time with my first story, like a new mom, I'm not ready to put my baby to bed yet! lol It won't be long though. Thanks for staying with it - I really appreciate it.

BTW - how awesome to be seeing Randy in Tommy. Where is it? Seeing him in a stage production is definitely on my bucket list. Someday it will happen. :)

poor brian, my heart is breaking for him. justin too a bit i guess.

i hope jen and daphne know what they're doing and their plan works.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing, Sophie's mom.Yeah, both boys are pretty pitiful at the moment. I'm not sure, but I don't think the next chapter will have a reunion for our boys - but after that - things should be looking up! I am so enjoying writing this story, and I am grateful that you have been loyally following it and giving me feedback. It means so much!

Poor Brian, I can't believe Justin was that horrible to him.  Of course, it was fair play if you consider their past.  I kind of like Brian getting a bit of a comeuppance, but feel guilty saying them.  I hope my boys work this out.

Looking forward to you next update.

Author's Response:

no worries bigdogz, I love a little angst to give them a reason for an explosive reunion - but our boys always need to end up together for me

I did rather enjoy Brian getting a little spoonful of his own medicine - but don't tell him - he might think I don't still love him - lol

Reviewer: Bigdogz09 (Signed) · Date: June 06, 2011 09:55 AM · On: Rehab and Recovery

Poor Justin, having to push away Brian.  Chris seems like he's coming unglued, he doesn't know if he hates or loves Justin.  Love the building tension.

This is getting wonderfully complicated.  Justin running to Ethan to save Brian from Chris.  Well done, great chapter.

Tension is always good - it builds up ... and then gets released - and the result for our boys is usually quite passionate!

Very good start.  I like how all the sub-stories have a little twist to them, with men confessing their feelings for Justin.

I'm moving on to the next chapters.  I'm sure I'll enjoy them.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much Bidgogz. I am so thrilled that you like the first chapter, and hope you enjoy the rest as much. I am working on chapter 5, but it might be a few days until I finish it, so you hav some time to catch up. Happy reading.

right now all my anger is towards daphne. she should tell brian or at least jennifer what chris said.

this is going to be difficult to mend. hope the mothers know what they're doing.

Author's Response:

Daphne's kind of caught in the middle - not an easy place to be - but she will knows the boys need to find their way back to each other - she won't let this go without a fight.. :)

i'm so hating justin right now for how he's treating and lying to brian. even jennifer's at a lost.

he called the fiddler? i hope chris will want to get rid of this obstacle too.

Author's Response:

ha ha - aww - don't hate on him too much, he thinks he is saving Brian - from what he thinks is a real threat (Brian's cliff's always were a result of him thinking he knew what was best for someone else, in regards to his presence in their lives, rather than a real outside threat)

even misguided sacrifice has to count for something - don't you think? our boy will need to redeem himself  - I'm sure he'll have some 'splainin to do before Brian forgives him, but who understands this method of showing how much he loves someone more than Brian? - he is the master at it, right?

thanks for reading and responding - my first still holds a special place in my heart - :-)

Reviewer: sophie's mom (Anonymous) · Date: June 06, 2011 04:50 AM · On: Rehab and Recovery

i think justin should talk to brian before making a decision that is going to effect both of them. brian is going to be devistated. as for chris, i don't feel sorry for him. this was all his own making.

Author's Response:

I know, sophie's mom, its hard to watch Brian so hurt, but just think of all the fun the make-up will bring - and yeah - it's hard to have any feelings for Chris - he's just a bad egg - no doubt about it

glad you are still reading - thanks for the response

Author's Response:

week-ends allow more time for fun stuff, Marny - next chapter might take a while longer

Justin does kind of react before he thinks things through...doesn't he? - but you know that things will always work out for our boys...wink wink

thanks for responding...I can always count on you!

Aw....this is so sad for both men - I can feel both sides of their pain.  I always loved Debbie and Brian's relationship and how she could always see through his B.S.  I know you will right their problems eventually, but in the meantime I'm definitely feeling the angst!  Looking forward to the next installment and how they eventually are reunited.:)  Thanks for updating so quickly, too!:P)

Author's Response:

Thanks Kimberly. There will most likely be at least one more chapter of separation and sadness, while Brian struggles to put the pieces together, but then they will begin to find their way back to each other - you know  that I believe Brian and Justin are always better together!

Hello, my dear - still reading here, as I'm sure many others are doing as well.:)  I find the myriad of emotions displayed here fascinating; the thought of Brian's life being in jeopardy would probably be the ONLY reason why Justin would act this way.  And ew, that weasel Ethan again? LOL! He sure is a persistent little devil.:)

Please don't let the lack of reviews get you down, although I know I have been in that same boat myself and know how discouraging/deflating it can be after literally spendng hours writing one chapter..... I'm hoping things are just slow right now because of summer, vacations, etc....Hang in there and I'll be waiting to see how you play this out.  Will Brian's heart harden over Justin's betrayal/rejection of him, or will he somehow see through his subterfuge to the real reason for his actions?  I will be eagerly anticipating the rest of your story.:)

Author's Response:

Thanks  Kimberly, your interest means so much! Yeah, nothing could turn Justin from his love except this. And don't worry, Ethan is just a tool, to be used and then thrown away - just as it should be.

I have the next chapter almost done, so it won't be long. You and Marny are enough encouragement for me to follow it through - your encouragement means more than you know.

Will post as soon as I can - hope you continue to enjoy it.

Charle

Please Justin don't push Brian away. Sitting here with a little tear myself.

Ieekkk no Ethan.

Love your writing. Don't give up so soon.

* big hug *

Author's Response:

Thanks again, Marny. Wow, what a great compliment, to bring such emotion. (although me thinks it has more to do with RL than my writing - lol). Don't worry - Ethan won't be around any longer than needed! He is only useful to move the plot along!

I promise that I will follow this story through to completion. I have some other ideas that I had thought of working on affter this. The lack of response did kind of have me down - I'll admit. It's no fun writing if I am the only one enjoying it. But I guess if even only one or two are interested, that makes it worthwhile. So, thanks for reading and responding, and especially for your encouragement. It makes my day!

* waves * I'm still reading. RL is shitty at the moment (hubby left me Tuesday pfff), but I've had a few nice days with my two girls.

Oh no Justin don't break up with Brian. He so loves you.

* runs to the next chapter *

Author's Response:

ah, Marny, just for you I will keep it going! So sorry to hear that you are having such struggles. Isn't it great that we have MW to come to when RL lets us down? I guess that's why I love the stories that end up with the guys head over heels in love and always there for each other. I am always here if you need someone to talk to - just email me.

So...I guess I have let a little hint out of the bag...things may not look too good right now...but Brian and Justin are forever, nothing can keep them apart for long!

Hello, my friend; this is an intriguing concept/rewrite of what happened on the show, and I always enjoy some angst as well as romance with my stories as you well know.:)  I'm looking forward to seeing where you go from here with this - keep going!:)

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Kimberly, for keeping me encouraged. It means so very much, coming from you. I don't know how it was for you with your first story, but I am a bundle of nerves, which is uncommon for me. Having never written a story of any kind before this, I of course want to write a story that folks want to read, while at the same time wanting to keep to the original inspiration point that made me attempt this in the first place. So far the response has been positive, which keeps me going, and warms my heart.  - I have some other ideas in the back of my mind that I will play with later on, but I really feel that I need to just focus on this one to start at least - I don't know how you do it keeping so many going at the same time!  - And yes, with all the OOC stuff going on with so many of the characters, without the angst, this would have turned sappy and uninteresting very quickly, I think. While I am finding it to be much easier to write about our boys together than it is to write about them apart, I am having fun with both parts.I hope I can continue to keep you readers intrigued as well.

Hello, my dear - just got a chance to read your first chapter.  Well done!  I especially enjoyed Brian's and Jennifer's ruminations while they were waiting for Justin to wake up.  And I laughed at the part where Justin was about to tell the doctor what to do with his 'two fingers' - certainly Justin has had a lot of experience with Brian on just where to put those - ha!  Looking forward to more of your story, and I am intrigued by the idea of turning the tables on Brian - I think that will be most interesting!  Hope you will post more of this soon!:)
