Such a great story! With Justin’s support and natural parental instincts, Brian has become a great parent to Gus.  Gus is such a sensitive and intelligent boy.  This was a good read.

Author's Response:

Thank you! We really enjoy writing Gus and his relationship with Brian and Justin. And Brian is definitely starting to find his footing in his parental role! We’re planning more! Thanks for reading!

Loved it!!!   I think this one was my favorite so far in the series!!    I loved how Brian and Justin talked through everything with Gus, and it enabled Brian to finally tell Justin what he was feeling about the situation with Ethan all those years ago.    Brian has definitely come a long way!!

Author's Response:

Aww, thank you so much for the sweet comment! :) We're so glad to hear that the plot resonated with you -- one thing sort of led to another as we were talking out the idea, and it turned out to be time for them to discuss what happened with Ethan. Brian is growing as a father and as a person, which is fun to write and fun to watch unfold. Thanks again!

Another great story.  Love B&J's interaction with Gus.  Looking forward to more.  Bill

Author's Response:

Thank you! These are so fun to write, and we're glad that you guys are enjoying them as well! There are more planned! :)

Poor Gus is so scary the first heartbreaks but Brian was able to make him talk and find an effective solution. As Justin told him he does not give himself enough credit for his role as a father because he listens and Gus trusts him. It's terrible all his insecurities after all this time the Kinneys have really been shitty. Thank you it was a very informative chapter !!

Author's Response:

Brian is making some progress toward believing a little bit more in his parenting abilities! :) Glad you liked it! Thanks for reading!

Hello, Ladies!  I just love how the two of you write Brian and Justin's relationship with Gus. The dynamics, to me, are spot on.  I could see this actually happening if they had continued the series. You keep B and J so much in character.  I love imagining through your stories what a grown-up Gus might be like, also, and I adore this version of him that you have created.

I also like how you write B and J's relationship in the future, and how you clearly express their love for each other in both word and touch.

I won't protest in the least if you continue co-writing in this 'verse!  Thank you very much for posting this. I enjoyed it so much. ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! It means a lot to hear that their characterization and the family dynamic resonates well. It's really fun to imagine what older Gus (and Brian approaching 50...eek!) would be like. It looks like we'll probably be continuing this 'verse...we're pretty fond of writing in it.

Gus current problems bring Brian to past mistakes he made.  At least it ended with everyone happier.

Author's Response:

Glad you liked the happy ending! :) Justin and Brian have both made plenty of mistakes in their relationship, but they've been able to grow and move past it, and I think that really says a lot about their love for and commitment to each other.

Oh wow what a great fic of teenage angst and Brian and Justin reviewing their history. Thank you I really enjoyed it

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading! Glad you enjoyed it!

Amazing story!! I loved reading Brian’s inner dialogue and how he felt about his family, especially Justin, Gus and even Mel. I hope you write more stories!

Author's Response:

So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading! <3 This story kind of took on a life of its own once we got started (it seriously started off as just a sickfic!) but the things we got to explore in it, I think are really worthwhile. I'm sure we'll be writing more! We are addicted! - TI

How refreshing to read a story where Lindsay, Melanie and Brian all get along.  I really enjoyed it.  I hope your collaborative group will continue to write.

Author's Response:

Oh we are continuing for sure! And thank you! We wanted to write something that was a little different, but that also reflected our feelings on how the relationship between Brian, Lindsay, and Melanie (plus Justin) would have changed and developed over the years. Glad you enjoyed it! - TI

I  truly enjoyed this story.I was glad to know Brian only had food poisoning and not something worse. I love the scenes with Brian and Gus, He loves his sonny boy as Justin both of them uncondionally. On Showtime I really could not stand the character of Lindsay, she used Mel and Brian as pawns and played them against each others which meant Linz was in control. The best scene in your story was the one beteween Mel and Brian talking about the past and forged a future not based on the old fears of Gus loving Brian more than Mel. excellent story

and Brian as pawns, she played them

Author's Response:

We're glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks so much for reading. It was time for Brian and Mel to bury the hatchet (which they'd already done a little bit of previously between the end of the series and now, in our minds) and move on as family. <3 We don't feel Lindsay ever had ill-intent toward Brian and Melanie, but had difficulty knowing how to help two very similar people in her life co-exist.

I really liked this story. It's a wonderful series that you write. Gus's teenage relationships with Brian and Justin and possibly his mothers are my favorite stories. We always see how much Brian loves his son even though he still doubts his ability to be a good father. Fortunately, Justin is still there to support and reassure him. Sometimes being sick brings good results. Melanie's words drew a few tears. Great stoty!! Thank you

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Marie! We're glad you're enjoying the series as much we are enjoying writing it! Brian is trying to figure it all out...and he's getting closer and doubting himself a little less with each story. He might even be starting to believe Justin. ;)

It's amazing that the writing dovestail so well that you can't tell where one author ends and another starts.  Love that you let us know what caused Brian's illness.  JR is just like her daddy with her puppy love of Brian.  Gus finds it discussing, which I don't blame him.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! That is definitely the goal, and it's great to hear that you can't tell who wrote what. ;) Our styles, fic tastes, and views of the characters are fairly similar as well, so that helps! Writing J.R.'s crush on Brian was so fun, even if Gus wasn't a fan...haha.

Loved the story!!   Poor Brian was really suffering there for awhile, but at least it was mostly a 24 hour thing and then he was starting to improve.    And it was great that he and Mel talked.   That was definitely a long time coming, but it was good for her to finally acknowledge that Brian is a good guy, and he really helped out with Gus' development into the great kid he is now.    I am glad that Justin surprised Brian with showing up at the house for the last few days.    With as sick as he was, he was really missing Justin and just needed to see him, so it was good that he was able to come up and spend some great time with everybody.

Author's Response:

Food poisoning is no joke, that's for sure! I'm glad to hear that the talk with Melanie resonated with you as well -- in our minds, Gus is so much like Brian that it would be hard for Melanie to not acknowledge that so much of what made Gus who he is, came from Brian. Justin's surprise was a fun element that even we didn't intend when we first started writing, but Justin really wanted to show up! ;) Thanks for reading; we're glad you enjoyed the story!

Really enjoyed this story.  Interesting to see Mel & Brian get along.  Look forward to more tandem stories!!!  Bill

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! <3 Since Brian and Mel both love Gus, we figured it was time for them to bury the hatchet and have a talk. And I'm sure we'll be writing more round robin stories -- we love writing them!

Oh, Ladies, I loved this as I knew I would!  I could read an entire series on the interactions between the two dads and a teenage Gus. And that last part about asking Lindsay about Guillame was inspired!  I so enjoy your style of writing.  And you make their interactions come alive and evoke such great emotion every time.  I love this 'verse you have created! Thank you. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Well, it looks like we're addicted, so we'll probably keep writing them so long as we can keep thinking of things to write! ;) The Guillaume thing grew out of something PTW said to me as a joke, and I added it into the story because I thought it was the perfect thing to send Gus home with. LOL Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments -- we hope to keep this verse coming! - TI

enjoyed your story very much. It made sense Mei and Lindz really couldn't answer the questions Gus had, not even from his girlfriends point of view. Justins honesty, humor, and charm saved Brian and Gus.

Author's Response:

Thank you! <3 We're really glad you enjoyed it and loved how everything played out. - TI

Look out Linds

Author's Response:

Linds just figured Gus would be more comfortable talking about this topic with his dad than with his mom. ;)

I love your stories of Gus with his fathers so much and this one is once again great. Gus knows he can count on his fathers for the explanations that they will be honest with him even if they do not have answers to everything. Finally Lindsay's ambush went well !! You two really write beautiful stories. Thank you.

Author's Response:

The relationship of Gus to Brian/Justin is a fun one to explore! And they pull no punches -- they don't need to lie to him. Thank you so much - we're really glad you're enjoying them! <3 - TI

Loved the story!!!   It is just so typical of Mel and Linds to send Gus to Brian to handle the difficult situation.   But I think he and Justin handled it perfectly.   They were open and honest and everything they said made a great impression on Gus.

Author's Response:

I don't know if it was necessarily the difficult situation, or just thinking Gus might be more comfortable discussing the topic with his dads than with his mother. ;) We're really glad you liked the story! - TI

Why the girls thought putting this off on the guys was the way to go is beyond me.  Just makes them wimps.  Will they send JR to Mikey when it's her turn?

Author's Response:

Nah, I'm sure they'll take care of it with JR...it's much easier for a girl to talk to a woman about things like this, than for a boy to talk to his mother. ;) - TI

Finally had a chance to read this, and I'm so glad I did. I think this is one of the best fics I've read of a post-513 Brian as teenage Gus's father.  You both did such a great job of interweaving this story that it appears seamless.  And I think your portrayal of Brian, Gus, and Justin was so IC and accurate!  Really enjoyed this one, and I could see this happening perfectly in my mind's eye. Thanks to both of you for such an enjoyable read. ~Kim

Author's Response:

We both thank you so much for your sweet comment, Kim! <3 You picked up on all of our goals with the story! We're really looking forward to writing more of these, too. - TI

This was a great little story!!    I'm so glad that Justin helped smooth things over between Brian and Gus and get things back on track with the two of them.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Glad you liked it! Justin's role here was sort of as the "connector" between the two of them -- when Brian and Gus get a little too much alike and their stubbornness gets in their own way, Justin can be the one who stays level-headed. ;) - TI

Very touching glimpse into the Father son relationship.  Justin is a very important part of the dynamic as well.

Yes, he is! They are truly a family, even if a non-traditional one. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the story - thanks for reading and commenting! - TI

Thank God for Justin and his  being there to help Brian and his Mini-Me get their acts together. Loved it!

Author's Response:

Haha, yep - Brian and Gus are both too stubborn for their own good sometimes, and they need someone else to come between them and act as the mediator to get them to talk. ;) Justin is good at that. So glad you loved the story! Thanks for reading and reviewing! <3 - TI

It's a beautiful story you wrote. Gus is a teenager and Brian full of injuries and the fear of not being a good father. Fortunately, Justin is there with his kindness and humanity to get them to talk to each other. It was moving to see the father and son at the end.Thank you for sharing

Author's Response:

Thank you! <3 I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Brian's fears and insecurities really get in his way a lot, but Justin is always there to support him. - TI

Enjoyed the story.  Kind of fascinated by "round robin" writing, great job on this story.  Hope to see more duo stories from you in the future.  Bill

Author's Response:

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to write this way. We basically would write a section, then "T**" the other person in. So part of the challenge for the reader might be figuring out who wrote what. ;) LOL We both made some changes and edits to the overall story together, too. We hope to do more of them in the future! - TI
