sorry for the short chapter! famous last words

Crouching behind the boxes, Justin sighs. This is so stupid. He isn’t sure why he didn’t put up more of an argument with Cody. Shaking his head, he checks to make sure that the gun in his hand is loaded. Obviously it’s loaded! He shakes his head again and listens. He jumps back, startled, when he hears the gun shots. Closing his eyes, he knows it’s Cody shooting the gun… Justin wonders if he, himself, will be able to shoot this gun if he has too. Frowning, he senses something. A van, perhaps? Something is approaching the building. Shit. Justin isn’t sure what it is, but he knows it isn’t good. Turning around, he discovers the large vent that is now in front of him. Biting his lower lip, he knows that this is his only choice. Quickly picking at the screws, Justin manages to loosen the vent enough to pull it out of the wall. Three and a half year old J1 slithers through the tunneled pipes from the vent he crawled through minutes earlier. Curiosity is his motivation. He had heard someone in a white coat talk about something called ‘Halloween-candy’. J1 loves candy. D1 does too. C1 found out that Dr. Bad Man has a large bowl of this so-called ‘Halloween candy’ on the desk of his office. J1 is determined to find it. “Run!” Cody’s terror-filled voice cuts through Justin’s thoughts and without a second though, the blond dives head first into the open vent, knowing that Cody’s verbal demand was directed for him. Stopping above Dr. Bad Man’s office, J1 grins proudly as he sees the large bowl on the desk below him filled with various colored wrappers: candy. He’s pretty sure that Dr. Bad Man regrets ever allowing the LINE26 nurse sharing a bag of candy with them months earlier. Gasping, Justin nearly hits his head when his shirt is lifted and the cold metal beneath him touches his sensitive skin. Closing his eyes, he exhales slowly. I can do this. It’s been awhile, to say the least, and Justin is feeling slightly claustrophobic. Opening his eyes, he focuses on his prize: going home to Brian. He pulls forward. He can’t explain how he knows, but he is sure as anything which way to go through the tunnel in order to reach an exit. Within minutes, Justin reaches the closed gate and bangs on it several times until he jars before pushing it open. Climbing out, his feet land steadily on the fire escape and he listens to any warning sounds. He knows Cody is gone. However is it to the agency or is he dead? Justin doesn’t know, but mourns the loss anyways. Slowly, he climbs down the escape and walks down the alley, alone.
