Daisy Summer Piper Justin chuckles softly as he watches his little sister: her pink hair fixed into two pig-tails. She’s wearing a neon purple tank-top and jean shorts that she had designed herself with scribbles and stick figures made up with black markers. She rollerblades along the boardwalk, arms outstretched and spinning around before continuing her journey along the wooden sidewalk with a carefree smile on her face. They had first seen the psychologist yesterday and then again earlier this morning. And as difficult as it was to go through the feelings, the two siblings were beginning to feel this sense of calmness. They finally were beginning to feel that it was possible to have hope. Pulling out his sketchbook, he starts to draw an outline of his sister’s figure, her quick movements keeping him focused on the task. He still can’t believe she’s officially a teenager now. She stops in front of him, hands on her hips, “Are you just going to sit there drawing me all day, Justin?” “I just started.” “You drew me before I had the skates on… remember: during lunch.” He shrugs, “I got tired of drawing landscapes, Moll. It’s either you or a stranger, and I’m not that familiar with Dutch culture here… they might not like having a stranger sketch a picture of them.” She sighs, “When are you getting that thing off?” She asks, gesturing to her brother’s cast. “One more week to go.” “When is Brian coming back?” Justin puts down his pencil, “Two weeks.” “That’ll be nice to greet him without using a cane.” “No shit.” Sitting down beside him, she sighs softly. “What’s up, Sis?” “I was just thinking about what Daan said.” Daan was their psychologist. Molly couldn’t pronounce his last name and decided to just greet him using his first name. Since he didn’t correct her, she continued using it. Justin had yet to call the man anything, but she figured that in time, her brother would start calling him Daan as well. “You mean today?” Justin asks, putting him sketchbook down and picking up his lemonade. She nods, “Maybe we should start talking about moving back to Pittsburgh like it’s a definite thing instead of it being just a maybe… since we both want to go back there one day.” Justin smiles, “You were actually listening to him? I thought you had tuned him out… I mean, you were staring out the window during his whole speech.” She chuckles and shrugs, “I heard most of it… he’s a bit long-winded though, you know.” Justin laughs, nodding. “But he knows his stuff.” “Yeah, he does.” She agrees. “I think it’s a great idea, Molly. I wasn’t sure if you were ready for it… considering it didn’t look like you were actually listening to a word the guy was saying. But I’ve been thinking about it too.” Leaning back, he smiles contently, “I really feel good about this, you know? And I can’t wait to talk to Brian later today and tell him.” “Does he know we’re seeing a shrink?” Justin shakes his head, “Not yet. I was waiting to see how it went first.” “Daan’s not bad.” Justin nods, “I like talking to him.” “Ditto.” Smiling, Justin picks up his pencil again, “I’ll tell Brian today when I talk to him.” “Cool.” Grinning, Justin nods, “Yeah: cool.”
