At Your Side

“Huh?” Justin blinked several times before rolling over to his back. He was in bed, alone, and the door was knocking. Frowning, he slowly sits up and looks around. “Brian?” No reply. He was alone. Yawning, he kicks off the covers and gets out of bed, wondering where his lover had gone off to. The door knocks again. “I’m coming…” Justin replies while yawning. Rubbing his face in with his hands, he tries to wake himself up to a more alert state of mind. He couldn’t believe how exhausting it was to get married: and they weren’t even married yet! Opening the door, Justin stands there, dumbfounded. He hadn’t expected this at all. “Justin!” Flinging her arms around him, she holds him tightly, “Holy shit, Justin, I thought I’d never see you again!” Justin swallows hard, stunned, “Daphne?” Letting go of her best friend for a moment, she takes his face in her hands and announces, “Surprise!” He laughs, “You’re here!” “Of course I am!” Kissing his cheek, she continues, “You don’t really think I would miss my best friend’s wedding, do you?” Walking into the hotel room, she looks around, “This is nice.” With a wide grin, Justin closes the door. He couldn’t believe Brian contacted Daphne and flew her across the ocean to him. Before another word can be spoken, Daphne pulls him close to her once again. “Damnit, Justin, I was so worried. I couldn’t sleep, eat… all I kept thinking was if you were okay.” “I’m okay,” Justin whispers, hugging his best friend. He couldn’t believe she was here. “I can’t believe you’re here.” “I missed you, Justin.” “Me too.” Wiping away a tear, she exhales deeply, “Okay,” she nods, smiling, “So everything is okay now?” He nods, not sure what she meant, but deciding that life was going to be okay regardless. “Good.” Smiling, he can’t stop looking at her. “I just can’t believe you’re here.” “I can’t believe you are too.” She answers honestly. With a sad smile, he nods his head. “I’m glad you’re here.” “Me too.” Reaching out, she takes his hand in hers. “I’m really glad you and Molly are okay.” “Yeah.” He looks down, not sure what else to say. “You sure you’re okay?” He nods, “It’s over with. Now it’s time to move on and be happy.” “You deserve to be happy.” “Thanks, Daphne.” “So let me see the ring!” ******************************** Note to readers: Wedding chapter coming soon!!!
