Smevalicious banner My dirty little secret Dirty little secret Dirty little secret Who has to know Who has to know Brian’s POV Justin is softly snoring when I pull into emergency parking. I turn off the engine and rest my head against the steering wheel. God why did this have to happen to him? A couple hours ago I was kissing him in my bedroom and now he’s bleeding in my Jeep. I tilt my head to look at him. His beautiful face is almost unrecognizable. I let of a deep breath and get out of the car. “Justin, Justin? We’re here.” I gently shake his shoulder mindful of his injuries. “No! No! Daddy stop!” His head shakes back and forth violently. I wrap my arms around him whispering nonsense in his ear, trying to get him to calm down. His whimpering echoes around the near empty parking lot. I carry him through the automatic doors and into the carpeted lobby of Condell Medical Center. “Debbie! I need help!” “Brian what the hell are you doing here? And what the fuck happened to him? Who is he?” I’ve known Debbie since I was born. My loud obnoxious second mother is a triage nurse and invites the Kinney family over every Sunday for her famous baked ziti. Debbie brings out a gurney and I carefully lay Justin down. “Jus, hey Justin wake up” He blinks owlishly and snatches my hand quickly looking around the lobby wildly. “Justin? This is Debbie; she’s a friend of mine she’s gunna help okay?” He nods hesitantly and holds my hand tighter. “I’m going to go get your father, stay here.” Debbie says waddling out of the lobby and through the triage doors. After she leaves I lock eyes with Justin. I see him drowning in fear and all I want to do is rescue him. I run my fingers through his hair gently as we read each others faces. The heavy triage doors bang open waking me out of my trance. Jack Kinney’s POV I am sitting at my desk signing some paperwork when Debbie comes in out of breath telling me that my son is here with some beat up kid. Well hell, of course I’m surprised, I ask her who it is and she says Justin. Justin, where have I heard that name before? Through the large paned windows I see my son softly stroking the boy’s hair with a face expressing all the love in the world, Justin Justin…What? Well I went into Brian’s bedroom to see if they wanted a snack and I found them kissing! Well Maggie I think it’s great that Brian found someone he likes, I wonder if he has told Chris, I doubt it, I don’t much like that boy… God what has Brian gotten himself into? Teen love, oh well. I push open the doors and I see Justin’s face for the first time, heavily bruised and bloody, my god who the hell did this to the poor kid. “Brian?” “Hey dad, can I talk to you for a minute?” “Uhh sure, let’s go over here” I lead him behind the reception desk to a secluded area. “Brian what’s going on? Who did that to him?” “Dad, dad …he’s had bruises on him before and when I ask him about it he closes up. Tonight he called me and asked me to come over to his house, I found him like this in a corner, I’m pretty sure his dad beats him up. I told him I was taking him here and he flipped out, we obviously can’t call his parents, I didn’t know what else to do, he needs help.” Brian finishes and hangs his head. “Son, it’s alright, I’ll take care of the costs and keep quiet but answer me this,” “Yea?” “Do you love him?” “Yea, I think so” He blushes like he did in first grade when he forgot his lines in the school play while his mom whispered them to him. “Good, now let’s get back to them, he needs you.” Oh man this is serious, what the hell am I going to do. I pull a blank chart off of Debbie’s desk and get to work.
